First of all, thank you to all of you who have been helping us test our move to online showings. Please note we are now moving to our Discord after finding this to be the best option available to us, and will be using this until further notice. We already use this as a platform for general discussion, but for those who wish to join us just for the showings, it is worth noting there is a desktop client available for download, as well as a tablet and mobile-friendly app. So, without further ado…
For the duration of term 3 we are taking to a new format with two exec choice of roughly 3 episodes of two different anime every week. This will of course also be online to help maintain public safety. We are keeping our timings the same as usual, so if you join the new Streaming Channel voice chat on a Tuesday at 7pm BST we will begin the showings. We do also encourage people to chat along in the voice chat text channel as they are watching if they want to discuss with others, helping us maintain the social aspect of the society. This week we are starting with the following, in this order:
- Aria the Scarlet Ammo / Hidan no Aria (MAL)
- “Aria the Scarlet Ammo follows a few students from a school that trains people to fight against terrorism, in an alternate Japan where there are way too many terrorist plots. It’s basically James Bond but done as a high school anime in the way anime is usually done” - Trevor, AV Technician
- Megazone 23 (1 episode - 1hr long) (MAL)
- “A boy finds a transforming robot motorcycle and discovers that reality is a lie. Phenomenal animation and an even better soundtrack” - Tomas, Webmaster
We are also having a film night showing on Saturday 25th April, next weekend, also hosted on our Discord, starting at 6pm BST. We are showing, in this order:
For those of you with too much time (which is not uncommon right now) or a particular interest in how the society is run, we have uploaded the latest minutes from our Exec meetings here.
Finally, from myself and all the Exec, stay safe and to those of you with exams, good luck!
