With 7 present, we met in FAB 3.25 to sort out our term 3 events and schedule. Just as soon as we did the Anidle.
Firstly, we confirmed the order for exec choices for our Tuesday showings, now in WLT. We spent some time thinking about what sort of anime are appropriate and allowed for term 3. A short conversation about Fate occurred and we watched Striking Daughter Sayuri for research.
Various considerations were made for term 1 of next year:
Fresher’s Week events, briefly covering the usual events of quiz, games night, and film, which we saw no reason to change. Room size came up as something we need to bear in mind, especially for the quiz which was very crowded this year.
Collaborations, better for next year rather than now when things are winding down. Oli has been in conversation about doing a film showing with PhilSoc (Akira and Ghost in the Shell were brought up) and also raised ComicSoc as a possibility. GoSoc are also in talks, although people made bird noises at the president during Samurai Champloo last year.
A merch check in happened. Harry had brought his hoodie as an example of what we might want, and had sent a few messages to our supplier: Clothing we decided we wanted to offer, along with considering stickers of some kind.
Most of the meeting was spent discussing the term’s events:
Our first decision was to divide our event schedule, keeping it light until week 8 so that we don’t overload people during exams. Events before week 8 we wanted to keep low-key, so that people have the option of revising in the background.
Already confirmed events were the marathon and BFK. We put BFK before week 10 for the sake of those with short leases, and room bookings forced it to be on a Friday. There are likely to be lots of graduates this year, so we want to give them some time at the end for their own picks.
On a similar note, we put our week 10 showing as Unc’s Revenge to give them a last chance to offer things for showings, rather than just another exec choice.
The marathon we decided to confirm a show for at a later date with proper pitches, with the goal of either watching “peak” or “slop”.
We wanted a Manga Social in order to coincide with our Discord Manga Club. With the club, we took the decision to change the nomination form to be ongoing, for everyone’s ease. Teas and coffees can be provided for a cosier atmosphere, especially with the leftovers from ConFusion.
We considered the logistics of a picnic and a sports day, before combining them. No barbecue though, because that sounds like an SU nightmare. We thought about some events and what equipment might be needed.
A specific Member’s Choice night seemed unnecessary given there would be opportunities every Tuesday, but a Boomer Night requires a bit more preparation so can be held separately.
We placed the events on our schedule. With a few gaps early on, we added study socials. Week 5 was left blank (bar the usual showing) with an unofficial karaoke in mind.
Another meeting was scheduled for week 8 in order to determine what we’ll watch for the marathon. The meeting finished with joining Anthony to do visual AMQ, with blurred and muted OPs.
