News

Hello, fellow anime enjoyers (that’s a hint at this week’s exec choice)… remember the last two weeks of announcements? Well, fear deserted newsletters no more! We’re choc-a-bloc with events this week:

Let’s get ready to absorb this week’s announcement!

Tuesday (10/05) Exec Choice + Member’s Choice

Traditionalists shall seethe at our exec choice this week. I am one such traditionalist and so will pass the mic to Mabey, our librarian, to explain what we’re showing for 19:00 in MS.02 on Tuesday.

“This week western animation finally gets its time to shine, and we start with a few of the best(in my opinion) episodes of the iconic Spongebob Squarepants! I highly encourage bringing episodes of your favourite western animated shows for members choice, so make sure to come to the best Tuesday event yet :anyaSmug:”

If you want to take him up on that offer, bring a DVD/USB with what you want to watch and it’ll be put to our member’s choice vote, after the exec choice - we’ll be watching 2 episodes of the winning show, and I will be burying my head in my hands, in the back right corner.

Pre-MCM Cosplay Workshop

For those of you who are dressing up for MCM (more details below), this event’s for you!

Whether you’re coming to Comic Con or not, feel free to join us at our pre-MCM cosplay workshop on Saturday 14/05 from 18:00 in MS.05! Here, you’ll have the opportunity to trial your cosplay (if you have one), receive feedback and appraise others, and possibly learn a thing or two about topics like knitting and sewing, wig maintenance, applying makeup and learning dance routines!

This event is open to anyone who wants to see all the amazing costumes from our members, or to just socialise.

More Comic Con Details

This section is VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU’RE ATTENDING COMIC CON WITH THE SOCIETY.

Linked is a Google Doc describing full logistical details of the trip! These include key details about how we intend to carry it out, journey timings, details about exchanges, guidance about having the best con experience, and some instructions on how to book train tickets.

Anyone who is going on the trip and is either going with/wants to meet up with anisoc members HAS to fill out the form!

Here’s the Google Doc:

Week 4 Circling Sign-ups (Wednesday 18/05)

Ready for another 19:30 drinking session? Prepare for your AlexD8282-style descent into alcoholism and take up that glass of purple, as anisoc hits Terrace Bar in week 4 for round 2 of circling!

Sign-ups will open this Tuesday at 19:20 - https://animesoc.co.uk/events/event/82/!

WSC Showing - Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms (19:30, Monday 16/05)

Warwick Student Cinema will be showing Maquia: When The Promised Flower Blooms (https://myanimelist.net/anime/35851/Sayonara_no_Asa_ni_Yakusoku_no_Hana_wo_Kazarou), an emotional masterpiece of modern anime. Ensure you turn up for 19:30 on Monday 16th May. WSC showings are held in Lecture Theatre 3 on the Science Concourse (L3 across the library bridge, next to the all-nighter building).

Tickets can be bought online or at the door; make sure you mention anisoc membership to get our discount - this is £3 instead of the usual £4!

And with that… that’s it! We’re wrapped up for week 3, see you all at our showings and events this week <3
