With the start of term one right around the corner now is a good time to say welcome to @everyone , and to announce our Welcome Week activities! After being stuck inside and resorting to online showings for the last 18 months we’re looking forward to finally meeting everyone once again, new and old, with the return to in-person events. We hope to see you all there!
Welcome Week Events
We have four events planned for Welcome Week; they’re free, fun and open to everyone so returners can join us too! There’s no need to book in advance so be sure to pop down and give us a visit at some of our events! You can find out more below:
Monday 27th September - You’ll be able to find us at the Societies Fair on Monday the 27th - it’s a great opportunity to meet the Exec directly, ask us any questions you might have and to find out what you can expect from the society for the rest of the year. Pop on down and say hello!
Wednesday 29th September - Our first showing of the year is Satoshi Kon’s classic Millennium Actress. Taking place in MS 01 at 19:00, this will be an ideal way to get introduced to the Society and meet people with similar interests as time to socialise is budgeted in at the start and end of the showing. Warwick Student Cinema are also showing Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away on the same day from 18:00-20:00 in L3, Science Concourse. If you are a member of our society, make sure to tell them for an exclusive discounted price (£3.50 instead of £4). Make sure to go thank them a bunch! Thursday 30th September - If you’re unable to make the Wednesday showing, don’t worry because on Thursday we will be showing the action packed movie Promare .If you like action and amazing animation then this is a movie you won’t want to miss! Saturday 2nd October - To top off the week, on Saturday we’ll be holding a relaxing drop in social in Oculus 1.06. Come join us to check out our manga library, meet new people, discuss anime and take part in our mini-drawing activity! Main Series Choices
The main series weekly showing is the bread and butter of the society; we gather together every Tuesday at 19:00 in MS01 to watch a term-long series, which we watch at a rate of 3 episodes each week. The first showing - on October the 5th - is particularly important as it is where YOU will decide on what we watch for the rest of the term. We will show the first episode of each of our four candidates shows that we, the exec, have curated. After all the viewings, we will choose which show to continue watching for the rest of the term via majoritarian vote. Feel free to vote for as many as you like - but you’ll only be able to vote if you come along in person so come along to have your say!
